Interview with Matt

OA: What is your favourite film of all time?

MTR: Has to be 1982 the thing.

OA: What music are you currently listening to and why?

MTR: Band: Decapitated, Album: winds of creation; mostly because is one of my favourite albums of all time.

OA: Which living artists do you most admire and why?

MTR: Alexis Harding, for his use of gloss paint and how time it’s shown within his work.

OA: Which deceased artist do you most admire and why?

MTR: Peter Lanyon, for his use of paint and texture.

OA: Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why?

MTR: When I went to see Alexis Harding’s painting’s at mummery+ schnelle gallery. I was blow away by the way he uses paint.

OA: What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it?

MTR: What kind of paints do I use, which I answer with “oil & acrylic” and What / who inspired you to be an artist? Alexis Harding.

OA: Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any the significance of this location is?

MTR: I make paintings inside abandoned places often institutionalised buildings.

OA: What do you like most about being an artist?

MTR: Being free with your own creativity.

OA: What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?

MTR: Having my work show in a number of galleries across the UK.

OA: What are your plans for the coming year?

MTR: To carry on creating work for galleries, and to progress as an artist.
