Thea initially studied at the Billede Kunst Skolen in Copenhagen before working on a year long art project, then returning to Scotland to continue to train at the Edinburgh School of Art.Her technique originates in figurative painting and is the influenced by the use of vibrant colours. Inspiration comes from her sketch books and camera, which are always to hand.First Thea chooses a ground (canvas, plexiglass, plastic, wood), then constructs the concept in charcoal or pencil and uses thin layers of acrylic glazes for depth. Layers of paper soaked in pva are combined with brushing glazes to build up the background texture and depth. Often pieces are finished with a varnish seal.Thea’s work is held in private collections throughout the UK and Scandinavia, and is exhibited through local galleries and personal shows.
